No matter how much we try to save on our holiday, there are always unexpected costs that arise. The cost of food, hotels and activities can tug at our purse strings and result in us having a lot less money at our disposal when we really need it. Having to spend a fortune can also leave us with a bitter taste in our mouths and put a bit of a damper on our holiday; sometimes even restricting what we can or can’t afford to do! This is simply not what we want when we are after a cheap holiday (we know that going on holiday isn’t going to be free, but after you’ve budgeted and other costs arise then the price just keeps rising out of our control).

It is, therefore, a relief to know that you won’t have to go overboard on the cost of hiring a car when you visit Edinburgh. Contrary to popular belief, the companies do have a heart and understand that you can’t afford to spend a fortune on a car when the cost of a holiday is rising (we are in a recession after all). You will be able to hire a car that best suits you without paying over the odds for the privilege and will have the whole city at your disposal. In any case, the money that you save on your car can be much better spent in getting the most out of your trip! It’s the best possible scenario for all concerned!

Edinburgh is an incredibly popular city. As the capital of Scotland, people have been drawn to the city in order to see the beautiful sights and the fantastic attractions that simply can’t be missed. The castle, the Royal Mile, the parliament building; all places that tourists clamour to see that offer a different side to the history of Scotland. Without a doubt, when you visit Edinburgh you will not want to miss the opportunity to see all of these fantastic sights. Unfortunately, to get the most out of Edinburgh it is essential that you find some sort of transport. Edinburgh is a huge city and, unlike others in the British Isles, is a very hilly area, meaning that many of the sights that you want to see are up and down hills. Of course, if you are super fit then this isn’t so much of an issue.

Unfortunately, not everyone is a fitness fanatic and because of this, such activities would be out of range if you decided against investing in a set of wheels. For this reason, you must hire a car when you arrive in Edinburgh; whether by coach, train or plane. All the main attractions have parking on site and even the minor ones have parking that is a short walk away. It will also dramatically decrease the travelling time which will leave much more time for you to enjoy your trip. Why would you choose not to hire a car and have a lesser holiday because of it?
