If you’ve never been to Scotland you are absolutely in for a treat. From the Edinburgh car rental to the sights and sites that litter the land you will be in for a sweet ride. If you’ve never considered the wealth of history that makes Scotland what it is, one of your first stops really ought to be the Water of Leith.

This river is not what most expect when they first hear of the rather small trek that it takes to wandering along the meandering coast. It is more than just a place to step back and gather one’s thoughts or to enjoy the scenery. It is the perfect punctuation to any day spent in Scottish company.

Leith is the capital of Scotland’s Edinburgh. Along the watery route you can not only discover some of the most beautiful scenery but also some of the most beautiful people. This is a simple yet rather necessary part of Scottish life. Walking along the banks have offered the people of the city a great way to rejoice in their culture while savoring their rich history.

You can stop along the way at numerous pubs, eateries, and small privately owned shops to find the exact treasure to mark your time here. Of course, once you have experienced such peacefulness that allows you to remove yourself from the city, you may end up wanting a little more action for the evening. This is Scotland, after all, and you have a chance to experience all of her.

Edinburgh – The Finest City Break in Scotland

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and a city steeped in tradition. It is probably the most popular destination for tourist’s in the whole of Scotland, attracting thousands of visitors every day and boasting countless sites and places of interest.

The tight roads are a throwback to a time before motor vehicles, though sadly it does make driving around some parts of the city a little tiresome. Still as cities go it’s not too bad and providing you are a confident driver and you know roughly what you’re looking for you shouldn’t have too many problems.

Being a popular destination for tourist’s means that getting car hire in the city is pretty straight forward. All of the major car hire companies operate in the city, and in fact taxis and public transport is not very good so it is probably well worth considering.

Another thing to think about before travelling to Edinburgh is the weather. People in the South of England visit the city expecting it to be similar to where they come from and end up shocked by just how cold it gets, particularly at night times; bring a jacket!

The night life is good, but ultimately the days out to the many historic sites are what really draws people. The ghost tour is highly recommended, taking you through the dungeons under the city, said to be one of the spookiest experiences you will find in the UK, and they have left more than a few people of a weaker disposition in tears. Afterwards you get a free drink so you can recover from the ordeal!

If you are looking for a restaurant in Edinburgh with a romantic ambiance then read on. While travelers recommend many such restaurants we’ve singled out three of the most popular restaurants which include, Thai Orchid, North Bridge Brasserie and Haldanes restaurant.

As you may guess, Thai Orchid specializes in Thai food. Located at 5A Johnston Terrace, dishes range in price from $20 to $60. Travelers recommend this restaurant for the great service and flavorsome food. The location is convenient and atmosphere is slated as romantic. If you like Thai food and want a nice evening out with your partner, Thai Orchid is a good choice at a good price.

North Bridge Brasserie is more expensive with the prices in the range of $49 to $197 per meal. Located in the Scotsman Hotel in North Bridge the Brasserie style food is raved about by patrons. The restaurant offers a new menu that is so diverse you’ll find it hard to decide what to order. The staff is considered to be lovely and friendly. Although it is on the expensive side, it is definetly worse the price if you would like great food and romantic surroundings. North Bridge Brasserie is definitely a top pick.

Lastly, Haldanes offers typical Scottish cuisine at a price range of $38 to $151 dollars. The restaurant is situated in the Albany Hotel at 39a Albany Street . The surroundings are gorgeous and the food is prepared to perfection. The decor creates a lovely romantic atmosphere with a large open fire welcoming you as you enter. Some refer to Haldines as Edinburgh’s hidden gem.

Summer Extravaganza

I got kind of overwhelmed recently when thinking of my plans for next summer. I’ll be taking a vacation to Edinburgh, Scotland. I’m so excited as there are so many events and festivals during the summertime in Edinburgh, but planning trips like this can be a hassle. How do you figure out the costs of transportation? This can all be made simple and arrangements can be made in a couple small steps with Vroom Vroom Vroom. It is still Fall and I have already set my travel dates and paid for the trip for next summer. An Edinburgh car rental is my best bet for transportation. I saved a large amount of money by booking early, paying online, and being able to see which place has the best prices. Vroom Vroom Vroom laid everything out for me in plain view. I just pointed and clicked. I have a buddy who took a trip to Edinburgh a couple years ago. He didn’t get a rental car. Once his trip was over he calculated his expenses. All the costs for cabs, buses, and getting rides with people he met (which I don’t recommend) rang up to a ridiculous amount. With all the festivals taking place in the summer I will be needing daily transportation. My trip is many months away and now I can sit back and relax knowing Vroom Vroom Vroom made plan arrangements easy for me.

The only plans I have to worry about now are what clothes to pack, how I should wear my hair, how many souvenirs to buy with all the money I’ve saved, and how to gloat to my friend who didn’t know about online tools like Vroom Vroom Vroom during his trip to Edinburgh. I’ll be riding in style with my Edinburgh car rental and I’ll be sure to make many memories and take hundreds of pictures.
